YALI Alumni Tanzania Chapter Leaders Sub-chapter Visit Zanzibar, Morogoro, and Upcoming Arusha and Mwanza Visit

On the 14th and 21st of September 2024, the leadership of the YALI Alumni Chapter of Tanzania, led by Chairperson Mr. Otaigo Elisha, conducted important visits to the Zanzibar and Morogoro sub-chapters. These visits were part of a broader initiative to ensure consistency and transparency in the operations of the sub-chapters while aligning them with the strategic goals of the national chapter.

The primary aim of these visits was to update the sub-chapters on the chapter's current progress and share key documents that will guide sub-chapter activities. Mr. Elisha, together with the national leadership, provided an overview of the chapter’s accomplishments, discussed ongoing initiatives, and addressed challenges. These interactions fostered open dialogue between the national chapter and its sub-chapters.

Central to these visits was the distribution of essential operational documents, including the Strategic Plan, which outlines the long-term vision of the chapter, the Code of Conduct to ensure ethical standards, the Procurement Manual to guide transparent and efficient procurement processes, and the Financial Policy to enforce responsible financial management. These tools are crucial for maintaining the integrity and effectiveness of the sub-chapters’ operations, ensuring alignment with national objectives.

The leadership emphasized the importance of communication, collaboration, and adherence to these guiding documents across all regions. Mr. Elisha highlighted that the success of the sub-chapters depends on their commitment to these guidelines and their active participation in fulfilling YALI’s mission.

Following the productive visits to Zanzibar and Morogoro, the YALI Alumni Chapter leadership is scheduled to visit the Arusha and Mwanza sub-chapters on the 28th of September 2024. This upcoming visit will follow a similar agenda, with the leadership sharing updates, addressing operational challenges, and providing the necessary documents to ensure the sub-chapter functions in line with the national body’s standards.

All YALI alumni from the Arusha and Mwanza sub-chapters are highly encouraged to attend this visit. It presents a valuable opportunity to engage with the national leadership, gain insights into the chapter’s direction, and access the tools necessary to strengthen the sub-chapter’s operations.

These engagements signify a major step towards strengthening the YALI network across Tanzania. By ensuring that all sub-chapters have the resources and guidance they need, the leadership is laying the foundation for continued growth and success, driven by the shared vision of empowering young African leaders.
