Julieth Kaombwe lost her
biological parents when she was 6 years old. She and her 5 siblings were
separated from each other so that the relatives of her father can take care of
each one.
Unfortunately, no one picked
Julieth. Because she is a girl, her responsibility was to remain at the grandparents’
home, caring for the house and her grandparents.
With all the challenges she
made it to Primary Seven, sat for her national exams and passed to join
secondary education. None of her family members recognized her amazing
achievement or wanted to invest in her education. She tried all means for her
to get education materials for her to join school. She then decided to join
school in her torn primary school uniforms and two books in which she mixed all
of her 10 subjects.
We found her in class, shy
and yet very bright. She was enrolled in the program and received all the
education materials.
